Report Finds Majority of Organizations Doubtful of Ransomware Attack Recovery

Over the last decade, the business world has gradually been shifting critical data to cloud-based networks and digital storage. However, the pandemic helped accelerate that shift dramatically, with more businesses than ever now utilizing this technology without properly developed security measures. As a result, cyber criminal activity has been on the rise, with many hackers attempting to exploit the dramatic shift toward cloud networking and storage.

According to the Dell Technologies 2021 Global Data Protection Index (GDPI), many organizations are feeling uneasy about the ability to recover from ransomware attacks, which are becoming increasingly destructive in the hybrid-centric workforce. Dell researchers discovered that 62% of surveyed organizations  feel that their existing data protection measures may not be sufficient to cope with malware and ransomware threats. Researchers also found that 67% lack confidence that all their business-critical data can be recovered in the event of a destructive cyberattack or data loss.

"While ransomware attacks can be devastating for people and businesses, accepting defeat as a foregone conclusion is not the answer," said Jeff Boudreau, president and general manager, Infrastructure Solutions Group, Dell Technologies. "We understand the stakes have never been higher, and the task of protecting data has never been more complex.”
