ScaleMatrix Unveils GPU-as-a-Service

By Maurice Nagle

With all the ooohs and aaahs around burgeoning areas of development like artificial intelligence, big data, deep learning etc. it’s easy to forget the heavy lifting taking place on the back to support the ‘WOW’ innovation provides. Thankfully, the din of back end innovation is as loud. Cloud computing and the as-a-service model industry offer a solution.

Highlighting this trend, ScaleMatrix announced Graphics Processing Unit-as-a-Service, which promises to deliver efficiency in handling what seem like Herculean workloads. Servers are supplied by ScaleMatrix, providing dedicated and direct access to appropriate users, with flexible payment options to best suit a firm’s usage or need. In addition, a deployment of the offering touts an improvement of Power Usage Effectiveness up to 30 percent.

The specs include:

  • 4-8 GPUs
  • Up to dual Intel Xeon processor E5-2630 v4
  • Between 64-128GB RAM
  • 1TB SSD NVMe for the primary drive
  • 4TB SATA for the secondary drive

With the GPU-as-a-Service offering, one gains access to a wealth of expertise, in areas like Artificial Intelligence Deep Learning through the Matrix Totalcare. The Totalcare team promises speedy resolution, from a more than capable team.

“We are excited to offer our customers this GPU-as-a-Service option to support their deep learning, AI and HPC needs,” said Chris Orlando, Co-Founder of ScaleMatrix.  Orlando continues, “This solution provides organizations a better, faster and less expensive alternative to Amazon P2 Instance at a cost-effective price/performance point that will help them accelerate their workloads and be competitive in today’s business environment.”

While a data center may not be “sexy,” it is certainly the straw that stirs the drink. And, as innovation in the cloud continues paralleled by our SaaSy obsession, this is certainly an exciting time to be involved in tech.
