Qrious Now the MSP for Cloudera in NZ

By Frank Griffin

There is a staggering amount of data being generated every single day, which is mostly driven by digital technology. And according to IBM, this is responsible for 90 percent of the data in the world being created in the last two to three years, which comes out to around 2.5 quintillion bytes of data a day as of 2015/2016. For managed service providers (MSPs), solutions that can make sense of this information and provide valuable insight to the customers have become a key piece of their offering. To make this possible, New Zealand's Qrious has just announced it has become the MSP for Cloudera so it can start offering a full end-to-end data solution as it makes preparations for the launch of a new big data platform.

Qrious helps organizations gain more value from information through data, insight and action by delivering better outcomes for industries in public transport, housing, agriculture, tourism, education, healthcare and more. The solutions the company provides make it possible to turn data into actionable insight using advanced analytics, big data platform, location insights, business intelligence, data warehousing and consulting services.

“Using Cloudera as the technology underpinning our big data platform means we are standing on the shoulders of giants. We are localizing it for the needs of the New Zealand market, and then applying Qrious’ world class data analytics, data science and machine learning capability, along with the added value of unique and complementary data sources,” said Qrious CEO, David Leach.

Qrious already has extensive experience in data management and analysis, but as the managed service provider of Cloudera, it is going to give the company access to a global leader in the big data market that provides machine learning and advanced analytics platforms. Cloudera unlocks new ways to derive value by extending existing investments using an open source platform to analyze, store, access, process and secure all of a customer’s data in batch or real time in one place.

Cloudera Enterprise is a big data platform that can be deployed wherever the data resides, in the cloud or on premises. Once it is part of the infrastructure of an organization, data driven tasks can be performed with more speed, efficiency and accuracy to build real-time data pipelines, meeting compliance guidelines, developing and training data models, conducting accurate model scoring and serving, and more.

“We believe Qrious is in a unique position in the New Zealand market… its data scientists, architects and engineers are world class and, coupled with the value of its unique data sources, customers are able to see success much quicker than previously,” Cloudera’s Regional director for Australia and New Zealand, Shyam Srinivasan.

Data has value, and harnessing this value lets organizations make data driven decisions to better compete in an ecosystem with new and disruptive solutions. As a managed service provider for Cloudera's technology, Qrious will give businesses in New Zealand the edge they need to compete and stay relevant, this according to Srinivasan.
