IBM Adds Qualys' Solutions to Expand Managed Security Services

IBM Adds Qualys' Solutions to Expand Managed Security Services

By Michael Guta

Comprehensive visibility is one of the challenges IT departments across the globe face as more organizations deploy and access services from data centers around the world. As more of their digital assets cover cloud and on premises deployments, security teams are looking for more effective ways to gain continuous visibility. The new partnership IBM has formed with Qualys to address this very issue will give Big Blue access to the technology of one of the most innovative security companies in the world to increase its portfolio of Managed Security Services (MSS) and offer the full IT visibility its customers require.

Qualys provides cloud-based security and compliance solutions to help organizations deliver critical security intelligence on demand, and automate the full spectrum of auditing, compliance and protection for IT systems and Web applications by simplifying security operations. Qualys can count quite a few of the Forbes Global 100 and Fortune 100 companies as its customers, including nine of the top 10 companies in technology, retail and biotechnology as well as six and seven of the top  10 chemical, banking, software, telecommunications, media, car manufacturing and food retail organizations in the world.

“IBM is helping some of the largest enterprises in the world lead their markets into a new industrial revolution. Now with the integration of the Qualys Cloud Platform, IBM can build security into the fabric of this digital transformation so their customers can innovate and disrupt before they are disrupted, while reducing the risk of cyber attacks,” said Philippe Courtot, chairman and CEO, Qualys, Inc.

For IBM, the Qualy platform represents a proven solution that has been deployed by global enterprises around the world. And it will now be able to give its customers the IT visibility they require to address security issues, as well as their compliance position on a level that can be scaled as needed across global assets.

As part of its Managed Security Services portfolio, IBM will be adding Qualys' Vulnerability Management, Policy Compliance, Continuous Monitoring and ThreatPROTECT. According to Qualys, this will give IBM added capabilities to the monitoring operations of its global X-Force Command Centers.

Qualys also said that IBM can improve the toolsets to better manage the IT security and compliance positions of its customers across hybrid and private clouds by integrating the Qualys cloud platform into its Managed Security Services.

“Qualys' cloud-based platform uniquely provides real-time visibility of IT security and compliance posture on a global scale,” said John Wheeler, Vice President, Services Strategy and Offering Management, IBM Security.

The Qualys cloud platform allows customers to continuously add visibility to new cloud workloads and instances with real-time visibility of their assets, vulnerabilities and policy configurations into a single view. These assets can be viewed across data centers, public and private clouds.
