Networking and communication equipment company ADTRAN is getting some major traction with its Bluesocket vWLAN platform. The company announced that burgeoning managed service provider (MSP) Black Sea Systems is using the platform as well as ADTRAN’s ProCloud managed services to meet increasing customer demand for wireless services.
Black Sea is also in the process of transitioning to the MSP business model, and the ADTRAN solutions will aid in that endeavor. The company may now roll out enterprise-class wireless services in any type of networking environment, quickly and cost efficiently. Black Sea may now deploy wireless services on premises for customers using Bluesocket vWLAN, and can also provide managed, cloud-based services using the platform in tandem with ADTRAN ProCloud.
By offering services on a managed basis, Black Sea handles all management of the system as well as support issues for its customers. The MSP is the second company to announce a service based on the ADTRAN Bluesocket vWLAN platform this week, with MetTel using the offering as the foundation for its own Managed Wi-Fi service.

The Bluesocket platform works by offering a centralized, virtualized and cloud-based solution for managing wireless LANs. By using intelligent access points at the edge of the network, policy enforcement and scalability are accomplished centrally and without the need for hardware controllers. Layering the ProCloud service on top of the platform gives Black Sea access to ADTRAN’s redundant infrastructure and back-end support, enabling the MSP to offer uptime and reliability to its SMB customers.
The company is directing its new managed Wi-Fi services toward a number of vertical markets including insurance, agriculture, real estate and entertainment. Black Sea is also laying additional value-added service on top of ProCloud like automatic reporting to provide customers with deeper insights about network usage.
