InterCloud and Tech Data Team on Managed Virtual Desktop Offering

By Laura Stotler

InterCloud Systems and Tech Data Corporation have teamed up to provide new managed service offerings for cloud customers. InterCloud is providing managed services for virtual desktops through the cloud using a Desktop as a Service (DaaS) model. The services are geared toward large enterprises and will be available for resale via Tech Data’s giant channel of partners and solution providers.

The companies are also teaming up to create a number of new service models geared toward the End User Compute (EUC) cloud segment, which will take advantage of InterCloud’s proficiency with VMware, Citrix and cloud-to-cloud mobility. The company also specializes in software defined networking (SDN) and network function virtualization (NFV) solutions aimed at the service provider market. Solutions are delivered via a managed services model as well as through the cloud.

InterCloud hosted an open lab in December in tandem with Juniper Networks to explain how enterprises and service providers alike can take advantage of NFV and SDN to make their networks more efficient. The company is a proponent of automating network deployments by using pre-configured virtual appliances along with managed and cloud-based services.

The partnership with Tech Data Corporation is designed to further this initiative, bringing the DaaS model to a broader range of customers through the company’s channel. InterCloud also offers a CaaS solution, using Microsoft Lync or Asterisk as the platform for VoIP, IM, collaboration and video services geared toward the enterprise.

"We are extremely pleased to continue to expand our relationship with Tech Data into the cloud arena,” said Mark Porter, vice president, Global Managed Services for InterCloud. “Tech Data has a world-class VAR community and one of the top cloud ecosystems in the world. With Tech Data's reach and InterCloud's vast expertise in cloud and software defined networking, we can deliver unrivaled value to clients as they transition to the cloud."
