Advent One Deploys Managed Cloud Environment with Brocade Platform at Core

By Laura Stotler

Australian MSP and systems integrator Advent One is delivering a new managed cloud environment and has chosen Brocade’s switch/router networking solutions for its core. The service provider is using the Brocade MLXe-16 switch/router to create a carrier-grade IP network for managing SaaS offerings and a variety of applications.

Advent One is now offering virtual private networking, IP telephony and virtual desktops through its managed cloud portfolio. The MLXe-16 is a key component of the offerings, helping the MSP to achieve greater virtualization, meet bandwidth demands and use less infrastructure and resources to offer services. That boils down to reduced costs and simplified operations as well as overall network efficiency and high levels of performance.

The MSP also plans to use network virtualization, including SDN control, through Brocade’s platform as demand for its services increases. Those components support agility throughout the network to enable specialized service delivery to a variety of customers.

"We needed to architect a network that could scale for the mid to large enterprise customer, as well as deliver any mix of cloud environment that the customer required,” said Graeme Clark, managing director of Advent One. “This was an entirely new network build, and it was very clear that we needed a carrier-grade switch that could meet our total-cost-of-ownership requirements. The core switch is the most important piece of network infrastructure so it has to be robust, with a high level of system redundancy.”

According to Clark, the company’s mid-sized customers are under increasing pressure to keep their headcounts, resources and costs down. Being able to offload day-to-day IT infrastructure provisioning and workloads to the cloud is a huge benefit to customers, and Advent One is also offering expert consultants with their cloud offerings.

Additional managed offerings from Advent One include disaster recovery, backup, monitoring and infrastructures services, PBX solution, storage and SaaS.
