Veeam Announces New Cloud Connect Partners and Release of Cloud Backup for MSPs

By Laura Stotler

Veeam Software has announced five service provider partners that will support its Veeam Cloud Connect solution when it becomes generally available later in the quarter. The offering is part of the Veeam Availability Suite v8 and gives customers a secure and integrated way to move backups to an offsite repository managed by the MSP of their choice.

Cirrity, iland Internet Solutions, Newcloud Networks, OffsiteDataSync and Phoenix NAP are all signed up as cloud partners for the new solution. According to Veeam, service providers in the program will be able to take advantage of the updated platform to deliver secure cloud backup to their own customers as well as Veeam’s, without investing in their own offsite infrastructure. The company’s Cloud Connect offering enables any Veeam ProPartner to setup offsite backup repository services for customers in less than 10 minutes, the company claims.

“Veeam’s approach to the cloud is to enable VCP partners to provision services that address customers’ needs while also enabling partners to extend their own business offerings. It is not to build our own cloud as so many legacy backup vendors have attempted to do,” explained Ratmir Timashev, CEO of Veeam. “Our partners are closer to our customers and have built deep relationships as trusted advisors. Veeam’s role is to empower partners to deliver the highest quality off-site backup services, and with the new Veeam Availability Suite v8 and Veeam Cloud Connect, they have access to a market-leading portfolio which helps them do just that.”

Veeam is also providing storage and compute resources to efficiently store backups of all sizes in the cloud. Partners may offer disk-to-disk-to-cloud (D2D2C) backup through which data is backed to a local disk first before being send offsite to the cloud for additional backup. This enables MSPs to offer disaster recovery planning, testing and recovery, among other value-added services.
