The growing popularity of the BYOD trend coupled with an increasing enterprise sprawl, through which remote and branch offices are on the rise, has lead to a need for more comprehensive mobile device management (MDM). Remote monitoring and management (RMM) company Continuum is making MDM a priority, and has ramped up its partnership with IBM company Fiberlink, provider of the cloud-based MaaS360 MDM platform.
The solution is being offered as part of Continuum’s RMM offering, and provides quick deployment, control and a comprehensive enterprise-wide view of all mobile devices and applications. It is being touted as a way to manage and expand organizations’ BYOD programs with all management and visibility available through Continuum’s single pane of glass interface, making it a great fit for MSPs.
Features of the new integrated offering include new modules like an Advanced Mobility Management Bundle and a Secure Productivity Suite. This provides Secure Browser, Secure Mail and Secure App Management. The companies have also restructured the billing to a monthly plan geared toward MSPs and enabling more flexibility and potential for increased sales. In fact, MSPs are a major target market for MDM solutions and many are not capitalizing on the technology, according to Francois Daumard, VP of channels at Fiberlink.
"While the number of mobile devices per individual is rapidly growing and the need for MDM policies is becoming more and more obvious, a fraction of MSPs is still overlooking possibilities offered by including MDM in their day-to-day business," said Daumard. "With no minimum devices required, Continuum's MSPs can easily help their clients manage mobile devices alongside their desktops and servers, under the same single pane of glass, addressing HIPAA compliance, security and control over all devices - including mobile."
MDM solutions like MaaS360 offer a host of benefits to MSPs and their customers, including reduced costs for supporting mobile workers since no consultants or IT resources are required to maintain the solution. And since MaaS360 is deployed as SaaS, no licensing, deployment or maintenance costs are required and customers also benefit from a pay-as-you-go model.
Other benefits include tight integration with existing communications applications and environments and centralized policy management and control across multiple platforms. Users may also provide various levels of role-based access to certain departments to address granular device lifecycle management and security policies.
