CloudLink Introduces Data Security and Management Solution for VMware vCloud

By Laura Stotler

Virtual machines (VM) and the cloud are increasingly driving technology trends, and companies are scrambling to partner with VMware on the virtualization front. Cloud security and data encryption management provider CloudLink Technologies is the latest, and the company has announced its CloudLink SecureVM for VMware vCloud Air offering.

The new solution helps customers manage data security on Windows and Linux-based VMs through a centralized approach. CloudLink SecureVM secures boot and data volumes and offers visibility and control over the placement and timing of VMs. Encryption keys also help validate the integrity of VMs before they boot.

Security is obviously at the heart of the new CloudLink offering, and features include comprehensive security controls like volume encryption and verification against unauthorized modifications. Enterprises retain full control of encryption key management and may position the encryption key store within an enterprise data center. The offering is also designed to lower operational costs and simplify security deployments using embedded OS encryption tools. Hybrid clouds are also supported through a suite of encryption modules that secure workloads wherever they may be distributed.

"Cloud security is a top priority for many enterprises, and cloud security solutions must leverage the company's existing data security technology and operational expertise," said Alex Berlin, CEO of CloudLink. "SecureVM unlocks native OS encryption with a centralized management approach that allows IT departments to have control over when and where their VMs and data are run and accessed, enabling enterprises to confidently adopt VMware vCloud Air knowing their data will remain private and can meet regulatory compliance requirements."

The VMware announcement comes a month after CloudLink announced the CloudLink SecureVM offering for Microsoft Azure, providing security and encryption for VMs deployed in the Azure public cloud. The company isn’t limiting itself on the cloud front though, and its solution is also certified for the AWS public cloud as well as EMC VSPEX private clouds, the TD Cloud from Tech Data Corporation and solutions from RSA and VCE.
