CSG Providing Managed Billing and Business Services to MTN South Africa

CSG Providing Managed Billing and Business Services to MTN South Africa

By Laura Stotler

A giant new managed communications services agreement has been forged between CSG International and MTN South Africa. MTN is using long-term managed services from CSG to streamline its operations, enabling the communications provider to focus on its core business lines.

CSG will be providing end-to-end management of MT’s wholesale billing and business services platform through the agreement, which spans several years. CGG will use a number of its offerings to provide services, including the CSG Singleview, Route and Interconnect solutions. The company will also take over management of several MTN tools along with systems from third-party vendors as well.

Telecoms and communication providers make up one of the largest growing segments of managed services adoption. Many providers realize the massive cost savings and efficiencies that may be gleaned from using an MSP to manage some or all of their back-end and OSS processes.

In MTN’s case, the company expects to realize significant process improvements since CSG will assume accountability for all of the company’s wholesale products and services along with managing a number of subcontractors on behalf of MTN.

"We have worked with CSG for many years and we recognize their undisputed excellence in managing end-to-end business services solutions," said Neil Tomkinson, CIO of MTN South Africa. "Their management of our billing stack will allow us to remain competitive and serve our customers better by enabling us to bring new products to market faster, to invest in innovative new service offerings, and to reinvest the cost savings from the managed services engagement back into strategic business solutions."

CSG has been on a steady growth trajectory, announcing a five-percent increase in dividends for the last quarter. Last month, the MSP announced it had expanded its partnership with a Brazilian mobile operator, which is using the CSG Roam solution to manage its international roaming traffic. The unnamed carrier has been working with CSG for more than 10 years, using solutions including CSG Interconnect and Intermediate. The mobile solution lets the carrier manage roaming relationships easily, juggling fluctuating demand and multiple roaming agreements.
