Managed Service Provider Week in Review

Managed Service Provider Week in Review

By Laura Stotler

Managed video services topped the MSP headlines this week, with a major acquisition announcement in the space. Giant video integrator Dimension Data has acquired Teliris, a cloud video managed services provider, as part of its expansion into the cloud and managed video services space.

Dimension has been working to build out its Managed Services for Visual Communications (MSVC), and recently announced a new video conferencing-as-a-service (VCaaS) partnership with Microsoft as part of the plan. Teliris’ proprietary Lentaris platform will help enable delivery of cloud-based managed telepresence and video conferencing services, fitting in well with Dimension’s growth plans.

In telecom news, hosted PBX provider Versature has launched an official channel partner program for MSPs in Canada. The program helps partners easily add business-class VoIP services to their portfolios, and also provides a dedicated support hotline, access to sales and marketing tools and continuous network status updates.

Brocade, a provider of network and data center virtualization solutions, has announced a new OpenStack service in support of inter-data center multi-tenancy. The service will benefit MSPs and cloud service providers operating multiple data centers by offering an automated way to maintain connectivity. It also enables policy management for VMs migrating among data centers. The service was developed in tandem with Huawei and is part of Brocade’s ongoing development initiatives using OpenStack.

Ciber Managed Services has been chosen by international fashion retailer TALLY WEiJL to manage the company’s SAP applications and solution environment. Ciber will be supporting SAP solutions throughout TALLY’s network of 800 stores in 37 countries, and will also oversee the company’s SAP ERP applications, which are used for accounting, controlling, sales and distribution. Additionally, Ciber will manage the SAP NetWeaver Process Integration solution and the SAP Business Warehouse application.

MSP Corbus, which provides managed strategic sourcing services, has announced a contract with a major consumer packaged goods company. Corbus will provide direct and indirect services to the customer across multiple spend categories. The MSP will also manage packaging spends across Europe for the client, enabling it to consolidate the number of vendors it works with while also delivering top quality products and services.
