A new service desk solution geared toward MSPs, enterprises and educational organizations has been announced by Absolute Software Corporation. The company is offering Absolute Service 8.1 for endpoint security, including management of computers, laptops, tablets and smartphones.
The solution integrates with the company’s Absolute Unified IT suite, which includes the Absolute Computrace and Absolute Manage offerings. The Absolute Service console lets users access important endpoint management and security functions like Computrace alerts, which automatically trigger security incidents so that responses may be fast tracked.
End users may also utilize the Absolute Service console to set up software in a self-service manner, without any interaction with IT required. The ultimate goal of the service is to improve efficiency for users and also better align endpoint management and security, providing a more positive customer experience for service providers’ clients.
According to Darren Williams, vice president and general manager, service management, at Absolute, the point of the integrated console is to prevent customers from switching among various consoles to manage their endpoints, environments, and users. The end result is streamlined operations as well as accelerated resolution of security incidents, problems and change requests.
The global market for IT service management (ITSM) is growing at a steady pace, with TechNavio forecasting a healthy 7.3 percent CAGR from 2012 to 2016. Growth is being fueled by the bring your own device (BYOD) trend, which has a record number of employers using their own personal technology devices for work.
As companies in a variety of vertical industries struggle to manage and secure this increasing number of devices, MSPs, enterprises and SMBs alike are looking for better and more comprehensive offerings that will save them time and money. The Charlotte County Public Schools, for instance, are already using Absolute Service and the offering meets the needs of the growing school district, according to Gerald Ping, a network analyst.
The offering may be deployed in the cloud or on premises, and is compatible with most browsers and form factors Absolute has also made its Absolute Service Help Desk addition available, providing incident management and ticketing for organizations with entrenched help desks.
