Wheelings & Dealings: Electric Cloud Brings in $4 Million Funding Round to Expand Continuous Delivery Market Share

Electric Cloud has been raking in funding over the past year, and the company just brought in an additional $4 million. The latest portion is part of a $12 million Series E round that Electric Cloud, which specializes in continuous delivery, will use to grow and expand its business and market share.

Continuous delivery is a process used to automate and accelerate the entire practice of software development and delivery. Automating this process is widely thought to help developers speed their time to market while also improving productivity and the quality of solutions. Electric Cloud’s solutions are used by organizations in a variety of vertical markets like energy, gaming and big data, and the company counts Shell Oil, Epic Games, Splunk and SpaceX among its customers.

The company’s solutions fall under the larger category of DevOps, the practice of close collaboration between developers and operations departments. Facilitating harmonious collaboration among all those involved in the development and rollout of software code results in improved efficiencies, more stable systems and an increase in the volume and flow of production code.

"Continuous Delivery is critical for software organizations that want to accelerate the delivery of quality code as a means of better serving customers and gaining a competitive advantage," said Douglas Schrier, general partner, Rembrandt Venture Partners, which participated in the new funding round.
 

Last year, Electric Cloud was named a “Cool Vendor in DevOps” in Gartner’s report of the same name. According to the report, DevOps is a driver for those organizations looking for agility in delivering applications. The success of DevOps is based on using tools to automate and streamline configuration, release and monitoring processes as well as other types of processes.

Electric Cloud does just that, with a variety of solutions designed to accelerate software delivery and improve quality.
