FiberLight, Cirracore Collaborate on IaaS for Business Continuity, Disaster Recovery

By Frank Griffin

While not all organizations have a digital presence, those that do are able to take advantage of a technology that allows them to be more efficient, productive and cost-effective. These benefits can now be enjoyed by virtually anyone thanks to cloud computing because of the flexibility it offers with pay-as-you-go billing structures. Even though implementing information technology into an organization has more positives than negatives, there are instances in which a worst-case scenario can leave the company crippled until full recovery is achieved. This requires implementing business continuity and disaster recovery (BC/DR) plans that can overcome these scenarios in order to ensure continued operation by the organization.

FiberLight, provider of fiber-optic based, high performance networking services for telecom carriers, government, enterprise and content providers, and Cirracore, supplier of VMware-based cloud Infrastructure-as-a-Service solutions have formed a partnership to provide Infrastructure-as-a Service (IaaS) for BC/DR.

A well-designed BC/DR plan gives organizations the ability to access its digital resources following a disruptive impact so it can continue to provide its core services to its customers. This generally involves backup, archiving, offsite storage, high availability and virtualization.

According to both companies, the initial deployment of this collaboration will be at FiberLight’s facilities in Atlanta, Georgia and Dallas, followed by future deployments across the country later this year.

More than ever organizations are becoming increasingly aware of the importance of having a reliable BC/DR plan. This is especially important for companies that handle Big Data, because without the proper BC/DR solution to transfer the data, processing, storage and distribution, losing that information for any reason can be a costly mistake.

The IaaS cloud solution offered by FiberLight and Cirracore is designed to scale out infrastructure by allowing customers to pay for only the services they use while at the same time providing seamless migration of computer resources such as processing power, memory and storage to the cloud.

This service delivers scalability which would have been prohibitively expensive with on-premise infrastructure. Whether it is SMBs or enterprises, organizations can now obtain cloud-based services that allow them to be more efficient across the board, but at the same time receiving BC/DR solutions that will ensure their organization will be protected.

The Cirracore IaaS white label cloud program features:

  • Managed IaaS services with on demand, secure multi-tenant versions as well as dedicated, private solutions for added compliance assurance;
  • Service-provider branded VMware vCloud Director Portal or Cloud Management Portals for brand continuity and extension;
  • Service provider branded data center racks to promote your brand within secure data centers;
  • Customized launch plans for sales, sale engineering, implementation, billing and Tier1 support;
  • Flexible equipment options for both network customer premise equipment (CPE) resellers and service providers;
  • Published API set that allows account creation, provisioning, and billing integration;
  • Oversubscription of virtual machines (VMs) that exponentially increase at scale offers a ramping profitability model.

“By performing an in-depth capacity assessment on current computing resources on behalf of our customers, we can quickly determine financial advantages to sending strategically identified computing efforts to the cloud. We’re excited to partner with Cirracore, who has experienced unprecedented uptimes of 100 percent since the company’s inception, largely due to a leadership team heavily grounded in IT security,” said David Spitznagel, Executive Vice President of Sales & Marketing at FiberLight.
