Cbeyond Opens Las Vegas Data Center to Deliver Cloud Services to MSPs and SMBs

By Laura Stotler

In a move to expand its cloud services offerings and better serve small to mid-sized businesses (SMBs), Cbeyond Inc. has opened a new regional data center in Las Vegas. The new facility is optimized for delivery of cloud services and doubles the service provider’s cloud data center infrastructure capacity.

The new data center will offer enhanced support for MSPs as well as SMBs through the company’s Cbeyond TotalCloud Data Center platform. The company also offers managed hosting and additional cloud services and maintains facilities in Atlanta, Louisville, KY and Dallas.

The focus on MSPs reflects a growing shift toward service providers offering their customers cloud solutions through targeted relationships with companies like Cbeyond. Benefits include enhanced broadband connectivity via the company’s dedicated network as well as near-net fiber networks provided through Cbeyond’s tier-one network partners.

"Businesses and the IT providers that serve them desire proximity to the cloud through a combination of advanced cloud services, high-speed network access and 24/7 support," said Tim Myers, chief information officer, Cbeyond. "Our new Las Vegas data center location offers state-of-the-art cloud computing and storage, and strong backbone network presence, in a secure, stable environment that is optimal for serving the Western Region."

The new facility is a great fit for MSPs looking to provide business continuity, disaster recovery, off-site backup and data replication services. The data center is also SOC 2 certified, making it compliant with privacy and security standards like HIPAA and PCI. In fact, the company’s Information Security Program, part of its TotalCloud services offering, passed an independent, third-party examination last year. The procedure looked at the TotalCloud Managed Hosting, TotalCloud Data Center and TotalCloud Foundation services to determine how they adopt elements of HIPAA and the Health Information Technology for Economic and Clinical Health Act (HITECH). The exam was performed in line with the AICPA’s standards by BrightLine CPA  Associates, and independent Qualified Security Assessor (QSA) firm.
