Wheelings & Dealings: Capgemini, VMware Expand Partnership to Help Enterprises Manage Cloud Services

By Laura Stotler

VMware and Capgemini have taken their partnership to a new level in an effort to develop strategic new solutions for simplifying cloud consumption in the enterprise. The companies plan to extend Capgemini’s service integration, aggregation and orchestration platform by using VMware cloud management offerings.

The new solutions will help global enterprises by enabling them to more easily manage IT-as-a-Service (ITaaS). This will be achieved by better managing cloud consumption across multiple providers and operators through policy-based service provisioning, protection of data sovereignty and improved time to value for cloud adoption.

VMware’s virtualization and cloud management solutions will be integrated with Capgemini’s expertise in service integration, aggregation and orchestration through the extended partnership. The resulting new solutions are designed to help global enterprises simplify cloud management complexity, improve quality of service, maximize operational efficiency and increase IT and business agility.

“In order to support a globally connected workforce, cloud solutions that are efficient, effective and bring real-time business insights are essential,” said Raf Howery, senior vice president and head of infra strategy and ecosystem for Capgemini. “Expanding our VMware partnership with the introduction of our new business cloud solution is a key part of our cloud orchestration strategy, allowing enterprises to better manage the complexity of their IT transformation journey. It will enable them to transition to cloud with greater flexibility and simplicity and to obtain resources across legacy, public, private or hybrid environments. They will see an immediate business impact.”

The new offerings are part of Capgemini’s Orchestration Platform and will bring together the company’s service integration, aggregation and orchestration solutions with VMware’s vCloud Automation Center, vCenter Operations Management Suite and VMware IT Business Management Suite. The integrated solutions are meant to enable enterprises to more easily transform and update their IT infrastructure and applications while integrating and delivering new business services.

The new integrated solutions also provide a real-time dashboard, giving CFOs and other financial and service level managers visibility into LOB and IT spend. CIOs can also glean information about overall application usage, resulting in greater control over support of business processes. This ultimately enables greater collaboration across the entire enterprise.

“VMware Cloud Management solutions have been designed to meet the demands of IT-as-a-Service – self-service, scale, velocity of change, shared infrastructures – as well as the modern applications they support,” said Ramin Sayar, senior vice president and general manager, Cloud Management Business Unit, VMware. “I am excited about our joint investment and strategy, which will span across multiple business and technology practices, and will provide unique and differentiated value to the industry and our enterprise customers.”
