Kaseya Comes to MSP Rescue

Kaseya Comes to MSP Rescue

By Doug Barney

Kaseya, a systems management firm aimed largely at MSPs, is helping a Melbourne, Australia-based managed provider flourish. MSP Blueshift (yes, that is the actual name of the company), relies heavily upon Kaseya to build and run its business. Other MSP Blueshift partners include ConnectWise, VMware and Microsoft.

Kaseya helps out by enabling MSP Blueshift cost effectively deliver its IT services. The company manages its clients’ IT infrastructure from soup to nuts, and says it has always relied on Kaseya to do much of this work.

“Before we opened our doors, we sought a platform that fully aligned with our vision for IT services delivery and provided the commercial offer we wanted to bring to market as MSP Blueshift,” said founder Jan Chapman. “Through using Kaseya, one of the most advanced real-time monitoring and automated remediation solutions on the market today, we can fix problems before they disrupt our clients' IT systems. With Kaseya's tools, we can comprehensively manage the entire computer network for any client – better than most internal departments could even dream of doing. And, we can do this at a much lower cost.”

The Kaseya system lets MSPs manage clients remotely. In fact, MSP Blueshift does some 95 percent of its work remotely, and only 5 percent actually on-site.

“With Kaseya, we can deliver a much greater range of services, backed by a highly trained team of IT technicians, for a similar low cost,” stated Chapman. “And, in most cases, we can take care of an issue in seconds for clients on our platform – not hours as might happen for NFPs utilizing services of small operators who charge by the hour for on-site visits. If we weren't using Kaseya we would need to hire a lot more staff and make far more site visits, which would hugely impact our viability. We couldn't make any money out of it. We'd have to pay ourselves a pittance so it would be a pointless exercise.”

One MSP Blueshift client, APTO, feels the Kaseya benefit directly. “MSP Blueshift is completely managing our IT systems and understands the community care services sector inside-out," said APTO's operations and corporate manager Colin Soltani. "It's vital for the safety and care of our clients that we can trust and rely our IT systems. “We have complete confidence in MSP Blueshift's service and know that if any of our employees have an IT issue from any device – mobile to laptop – Blueshift will swiftly reach into the system and fix the issue.”

Kaseya Widens Cloud and On-premises Insight

MSPs in most cases manage both cloud and on-premises services. That fact prompted Kaseya to try and give MSPs a deeper service-centric view of customer networks, regardless of where the infrastructure lies, be it traditional on-premises, private cloud, public cloud, or hybrid.

The new tool here is Kaseya Traverse, a SaaS-based tool that offers predictive analytics, network performance monitoring and business service management (BSM).

The new tool works across distributed and virtual environments as well as cloud, hybrid and on-premises deployments.

The system works by first mapping the infrastructure and all its varied components. This way “users can pinpoint which business services or groups are affected by network, server or application problems. Identified issues are proactively remediated, and powerful, intuitive reporting enables the right individuals to make the right decisions at the right time. Service Level Agreement (SLA) dashboards provide real-time updates on the SLAs of business services as well as IT components, and graphical NetFlow reports offer insights into traffic patterns related to specific applications and services,” the company explained.

Kaseya Revamp

Kaseya has been undergoing a world of change. First, it was acquired by Insight. Wanting the most out its investment, Insight installed Gupta as CEO. Then they went on a bit of a hiring spree, adding NetSuite and Oracle vets to the executive roster. And Kaseya grew a bit after the acquisition as well, buying Zyrion, an IT service monitoring and cloud services concern.
