ConnectWise Promotes Customization and Expansion of Solution with New Developer Platform Initiative

By Laura Stotler

ConnectWise has announced a new initiative that will help expand its vision through input from a broad community of developers. The ConnectWise Platform will enable developers to contribute APIs to make the ConnectWise solution more customizable and extensible for its MSP, VAR, ISV and service provider users.

The main goal of the new initiative is to ensure the ConnectWise solution is customizable enough to enable partners to expend and build it out through APIs and a comprehensive software development kit (SDK).  The effort is being supported through the ConnectWise Marketplace, which brings together partners and vendors to help them work together to build out the offering.

The ConnectWise business management solution is used by MSPs and other solution providers to integrate a variety of business functions and provide unified and streamlined management of operations. The offering integrates CRM, sales and help desk functions along with IT service management, project tracking, SLAs, mobile IT services and time and expenses.

The new initiative has prompted some personnel changes within ConnectWise, and will be lead by Jeannine Edwards, who previously acted as director of ConnectWise LabTech & Quosal Communities. Amy Hodge will take her place as director.

"This year we are embarking on what we think is a game-changing journey: a strategic initiative to create ConnectWise as a platform," said Arnie Bellini, ConnectWise CEO. "We've asked Jeannine Edwards to spearhead strategy and execution. Based on her success in helping position Community as a differentiator for ConnectWise in the PSA space – and the channel overall – we feel she is the right fit to replicate that success with our platform vision."

Building out its cloud strategy, ConnectWise announced a number of enhancements to its offering last month designed to provide improved infrastructure along with better speed and reliability. New features include custom reporting capabilities, multi-versioning and a multi-region presence made up of worldwide data centers.
