dinCloud Puts Arrow Electronics Deal in Quiver

By Doug Barney

Massive distributor Arrow Electronics will offer an array of wares from dinCloud, including cloud storage, hosted virtual servers and hosted virtual desktops.

And Arrow will let fly with dinCloud’s latest little beauty, webHVD which an HTML5 device that uses the Chrome browser to serve up Linux, Mac, Windows or Chromebook endpoints.

The dinCloud tools will be offered to Arrow partners through its online store. “It provides customers with a turnkey desktop, which they can provision and start using in a matter of minutes. With the addition of these solutions to ArrowSphere, Arrow can now offer a variety of new products and capabilities to its channel, enabling significant savings and providing a smarter alternative to on-premises infrastructure for customers of all sizes,” the partners agreed.

This could be a boon, as Arrow has over 100,000 OEMS, contract manufacturers and commercial customers.

“We are always looking for strong alliances and relationships, and dinCloud’s channel-friendly model and solutions help us fill a growing gap in the cloud space,” said Jim Livingston, vice president of North American services for Arrow’s ECS segment. “dinCloud’s hosted virtual desktops, including its new webHVD, hosted virtual servers and cloud-based storage offerings, offer a comprehensive solution for solution providers as they build and grow their services practices.”

Besides the virtual wares, Arrow will offer dinManage, a cloud orchestration tool. dinManage is available on a white label basis and helps MSPs set up private virtual data centers in the cloud, and customize them for clients using the tools management and orchestration features.

dinCloud argues that its tool can make it faster and easier for partners to provision virtual servers and hosted virtual desktops by virtue of dinManage’s automation.

“Partners have immediate and complete control of a customer’s IT environment, including desktops, servers, storage, and network security resources in minutes,” the company said.

451 Research sees service provider value in the company’s approach.  “dinCloud is a good example of a number of converging trends in infrastructure and IT services. It provides a service delivery model and a range of infrastructure services that can help IT services providers get to market faster with a comprehensive offering,” said Carl Brooks, research analyst at 451 Research.
