Best Places to Work in NYC Recognizes Telx

By Doug Barney

The Big Apple has plenty of great places to work. You don’t hear the Rockettes complaining, do you?

But, while swinging your legs in the air may be a heap of fun, so apparently is working at Telx, at least according to Crain’s New York Business newspaper, which picked it as one of the best local places to work.

Telx provides cloud, data center and networking services. Now, while that can be fun, it is the company that really makes the difference.

Telx apparently has that all locked down. Out of the tens of thousands of New York companies, Telx came in 75th.

“New York City is Telx's backyard. We are honored to once again be recognized as a leader in this great city's business community,” said Chris Downie, CEO of Telx. “We are grateful for this honor as it reflects our dedication to creating a company culture focused on our people as well as our collective commitment to excellence and serving our clients across a wide range of industries.”

Contestants ranged from shops of fewer than 50 workers all the way up to 50,000 plus goliaths. The criteria were worker recognition, promo ability, quality of the workplace, and retention policies.

“Crain's New York Business acknowledged Telx as an incubator for out-of-the box thinkers with a work environment that emphasizes creative solutions for business challenges and regardless of their tenure, everyone is encouraged to bring ideas to the table. Telx's employees are encouraged to recognize the best efforts of fellow co-workers and are frequently and generously honored for hard work and good decision-making through incentives such as gift cards, plaques and other rewards,” the paper said.

Telx today has some 20 data centers supporting its cloud services and has a roster of more than 1,200 customers, which include ISPs and cloud and content providers.
