BUMI Loves Backup So Much It Launched Three New Services

BUMI Loves Backup So Much It Launched Three New Services

By Doug Barney

New York-based BUMI – short for Backup My Info!, this week took the wraps off no fewer than three new services aimed at protecting SMBs.

The new line is cleverly named BUMI Here, There and Everywhere, and include on-premises and offsite solutions.

“BUMI Here, There and Everywhere give organizations the flexibility to create a comprehensive data backup and recovery strategy that suits their specific business needs,” said Jennifer Walzer, CEO of BUMI. “Whether clients want to maintain their backups within their own infrastructure or replicate to one or both of our data centers, we now have the capability to provide a best-in-class data protection and disaster recovery solution that fits their needs.”

BUMI Here is a private cloud backup tool that can also replicate offsite. The offering comes with support, remote monitoring, software, hardware and setup.

One customer wanted to keep backup in house, but didn’t want to manage it all. “BUMI Here allows us to retain control of our backups and where they are stored. We also have the peace of mind in knowing BUMI is proactively monitoring the backups on a daily basis and that their team is available to address any issues that may occur,” said Kevin Lewis, VP of Technology at The Morét Group, an apparel design, sourcing and marketing company.

At Morét, the BUMI software runs on a dedicated server and is connected to a BUMI NAS appliance.

BUMI There does backup entirely in the cloud, so there is no infrastructure for the customer to tend to – at least for this tier of backup.

Investment house Serengeti found this to be the best approach. “We needed the capability to back up our data off-site to provide an added level of data protection,” said Jeff Miller, Chief Technology Officer at Serengeti Asset Management, an investment firm based in New York City. “BUMI There is transparent to our business and allows my team to focus on other key initiatives.”

On the hybrid side is BUMI Everywhere. And once again BUMI already has a customer to speak to its benefits. “Our operation utilizes BUMI Everywhere to ensure data backup and recovery,” said Chris Bartlett, IT Manager at Premier Utility Services. “The hybrid approach delivers the flexibility to manage backups on-site with the added layer of protection of the BUMI cloud.”

The Support Story

BUMI prides itself on quality support. The 24x7s support is 100 percent based in the U.S., and the company says it connects customers quickly to a live support engineer who is an expert, and doesn’t rely on scripts like so many support people do.

In fact, all calls are answered by a live respondent, and there is no automated phone system to navigate. Meanwhile support engineers monitor customer backups every day, and can proactively alert you of problems.
