MegaPath Expands Managed Broadband, Security Services to Sunshine Gas Locations

By Laura Stotler

Additional Sunshine Gas Distributors locations will now benefit from a variety of managed services. MSP MegaPath Corporation is extending its relationship with the company and will deliver broadband, MPLS, wireless failover and managed security services to 140 new sites.

The distributor, based in Florida, maintains a giant network of gas stations and convenience stores. The new locations will now be able to meet the Payment Card Industry Security Standard (PCI DSS) by using network security compliance services from MegaPath.

Each Sunshine Gas facility will be able to continuously monitor its broadband connection through the expanded agreement, as well as seamlessly transition between wireline and wireless broadband if there is a primary service outage. This safeguards revenue if there is a service disruption, and facilities will also be able to leverage MegaPath’s newly expanded 3G/4G wireless footprint and its pooled-usage plans in places not accessible by wireline.

In tandem with the wireless expansion, the company also expanded its wireless failover services earlier this year, making them available to single-site and SMB customers instead of only enterprise-class clients. Services use MegaPath’s managed customer premises equipment to monitor broadband connections. The MSP also offers its expanded 3G/4G services as backup to customers’ T1, Ethernet, DSL and cable connections.

"Starting with an initial 70-location implementation, MegaPath helped us build a superior, secure credit-card operations network with a solution that covers all our bases,” said Max Alvarez, vice president, Sunshine Gasoline Distributors Inc. “It was an easy decision to expand MegaPath's services to 140 new sites because we are confident in the integrity of our transactions."

MegaPath also offers its MPLS VPN service to let customers consolidate all their business apps on a single private network. It provides MPLS class of service and voice and video traffic is prioritized for high levels of QoS.
