Quad Play Provider SBC Chooses MTS for MVNE Solution

Quad Play Provider SBC Chooses MTS for MVNE Solution

By Laura Stotler

A new managed services and cloud contract has been announced between Mer Telemanagement Solutions Ltd. (MTS) and SBC Communications, LLC. The three-year agreement has SBC selecting the MTS Mobile Virtual Network Enabler (MVNE) solution as a service platform for their unique “Quad Play” portfolio.

SBC offers cable TV, internet, home phone and wireless services and will use the MTS MVNE to handle back-office functionality and network integration. The offering is designed to align with MVNOs’ business objectives while also meeting the needs of their target markets, enabling operators to focus on sales and marketing and core business initiatives.

MTS couples its service platform with BSS/OSS technology to offer an integrated solution that aims to streamline how MVNOs manage and support their customer bases, sales distributors and partners. The solution supports adaptable business rules for all key operational functions like customer care and CRM, Web self-care, customer registration, service provisioning, billing and invoicing and analytics.

The global MVNO market is forecast to reach $32 billion this year, according to ASDReports. Smartphone commoditization, along with faster mobile broadband speeds, has created a massive market for value-added services, which offers myriad opportunities for operators like SBC. More and more, MVNOs are migrating to solutions that streamline their back-end processes so they can spend more time and resources on building lucrative, value-added services.

"When it came time to select a new MVNE solution, we quickly realized that MTS was the right platform for us based on their existing relationship with our new MNO, their flexibility to handle our hybrid post-paid with a pre-paid reserve business model and their ability to support the billing and customer care functions of all our other services within a single platform," said Danny Moore, president of the Operations Group at SBC Communications, LLC.

MTS also offers pre-configured solutions in support of emerging carriers in the MVNO, VoIP, Wi-MAX and IPTV sectors. These offerings may be installed as full-featured and scalable solutions. The company also specializes in Telecom Expense Management (TEM), and the MTS TEM Suite offers visibility and control of fixed and mobile telecom assets, services and IT security policies.
