Masergy Expands Marketplace to Help Partners Deploy Cloud Services

By Laura Stotler

Masergy Communications Inc. is putting more focus on cloud services with the announcement that it has expanded its Masergy Marketplace. The company, which specializes in managed networking services and cloud communications, offers the Marketplace to unite its on-net partners leveraging its IP/MPLS network to deliver services.

Designed to facilitate rapid deployment of third-party services, the Masergy Marketplace creates a virtual path for instant access to participating partners’ cloud services. Masergy’s global IP/MPLS network provides Ethernet connectivity to any location throughout the world and includes a fully integrated cloud communications offering.

The cloud component includes security and managed network services providing performance, scalability and reach. SoftLayer, an IBM company, is using the network to deliver their global cloud platform. The offering gives customers access to SoftLayer’s global network of data centers to offer an improved customer experience, according to Marc Jones, VP of product innovation at SoftLayer.

In another interesting deployment, The Church Without Walls in Houston is using the Masergy platform along with Haivision video broadcasting equipment to simulcast sermons among its three campuses. The 20,000-member “megachurch” worked with Masergy to deploy a high-quality, multicast-enabled solution for broadcasting that would also meet the organization’s voice and data requirements.

"Masergy is helping to bridge the gap between services our customers require and the providers who deliver them," said John Dumbleton, senior vice president of business development for Masergy. "Our Marketplace helps simplify the selection process by directly interconnecting with experienced cloud providers to reduce complexity in multi-vendor deployments."

Masergy has had a busy year, and has been working to expand its position in the managed and cloud services sector. The company recently broadened its Latin America presence with new POPs in Mexico City, Miami and Sao Paulo. Channel revenue has also grown 20 percent year-over-year thanks to Masergy’s growing network of strategic partners.
