One 'More' Company Joins the Storage Services Fray

If you are in the market for storage services, do yourself a favor – negotiate. This area is teeming with new entrants, and of course all the incumbents, the EMCs and HPs are all still in the game.

Latest case in point is More Solutions Group, which this week dipped its toe, actually its whole foot, into the market.

More is a brand new MSP that designs data storage infrastructure for clients. What's also new is the unveiling of the company’s core offerings, and CEO.

More has been around under various names, all of which include the word ‘more.’

In 1991, as More Solutions, the company supported IBM mid-range computing customers with tape systems. That version of More was founded by Tom Gelson, and was sold off to Neartek, which itself was later sold to EMC.

Gelson then launched More Group as an MSP focusing on tape and disk backup, and sold this version of More to Forsythe Technology Group.

Not satisfied to sit on his hands, Gelson started Vault USA, also a service provider that also got sold.

Now Gelson is back with More Solutions Group as founder and CEO. Besides storage, More will offer cloud computing, virtualization, and managed services including maintenance.

When it comes to storage, Gelson just can’t tear himself away.

“I’m glad to be back in data storage integration, an industry I’ve always thought of as my home in IT,” Gelson said. “I’m looking forward to reconnecting and reengaging with the customers I’ve collaborated with over the years, and I’m confident More Solutions Group will be a trusted partner to those organizations.”

Given Gelson’s background, storage, and in particular custom storage solutions, is at the heart of the new business. The company promises a vendor-neutral approach, and will choose tools and storage architectures based on customer needs.
