Comstor in Agreement for PeakColo's IaaS, Cloud Services Solutions

Comstor in Agreement for PeakColo's IaaS, Cloud Services Solutions

By Laura Stotler

Cloud service provider PeakColo and Westcon Group’s Comstor business unit have entered into a distribution agreement. Comstor will gain access to PeakColo’s “Powered by Peak” infrastructure-as-a-service (IaaS) offering and cloud services, built on Cisco hardware and technology, through the arrangement.

The partnership is designed to expand Comstor’s position in North America as a distributor of unified communications solutions along with network infrastructure, data center and security offerings. The company maintains a global network of resellers, all of which will gain access to Peak’s cloud services, powered by Cisco.

Resellers will be able to white label PeakColo’s offerings for their customers, and the agreement also opens up a faster route to market for the provider’s cloud services. For its part, PeakColo has been hard at work developing channels for their IaaS and cloud services. Last month, the provider inked an agreement with Avnet Technology Solutions to expand availability of its cloud services platform.

In July, PeakColo secured $3 million in debt funding to support growth, capital intensive business and new technology initiatives. An additional $1.5 million in funding also came in to support the provider’s expansion of its cloud node capacities in existing locations.

The company’s IaaS offering enables access to both the hypervisor and customers’ backup and security platforms without the need for a capital investment. Resellers may brand their own cloud solutions based on the FlexPod data center solution, which is powered by the Cisco Unified Computing System (UCS), Cisco Nexus switching, and storage from NetApp.

The agreement with Comstor allows resellers to sell revenue-generating, cloud-enabled services on top of the Flexpod IaaS infrastructure. The combination of technologies provides a platform for launching a variety of cloud services, including hybrid or private/public clouds, virtual desktops and storage or disaster recovery and backup-as-a-service.
