Orange Poland Chooses CGI Group for Mobile IT Business Support Systems

By Laura Stotler

MSP CGI Group Inc. has been chosen to provide mobile IT business support systems to telecom provider Orange Poland. The three-year managed services contract covers a variety of services and areas, and is an expansion of CGI’s ongoing partnership with Orange.

Through the expanded contract, CGI will be providing Orange with application development, systems integration and maintenance. Services will be used for Orange Poland’s customer relationship management (CRM) as well as point-of-sale, provisioning, order management, enterprise application integration and billing systems.

Turning over mobile IT support management to an MSP will help Orange considerably as the company focuses on its core business of expanding services to its more than 14 million mobile customers. Providing both post-paid and prepaid services, Orange offers mobile broadband with speeds up to 7.2 Mbps using HSPA technology. The company has also been expanding its HSPA2+ network, providing transmission speeds of up to 20 Mbps. Orange owns the largest technical infrastructure in Poland and its mobile Internet services also have the largest coverage in the country.

CGI offers strong support and experience in managing communications service providers and media companies. The MSP’s support solutions are used by six of the 10 largest global telecom service providers, and the company has deployed 48 billing systems just within the past five years.

Offerings encompass customer experience management, service development and management and resource management. CGI also offers infrastructure and product lifecycle management along with fulfillment, assurance, billing, end-to-end transformation and enterprise management.

"We're very excited and proud to expand our relationship with Orange Poland and have an opportunity to deliver more value-added IT services," said Dariusz Gorzen, who leads CGI's operations in Poland. "Having a single vendor support its mobile BSS systems will lead to greater efficiencies, faster time to market and decreased IT spend. By leveraging our global delivery center in Poland, we'll be able to provide a high level of local responsiveness and accountability. We look forward to further strengthening our trusted partnership with Orange Poland."
