Dropbox Falls into MSP Hands

Dropbox Falls into MSP Hands

By Doug Barney

So you think Dropbox is just a puny little consumer toy? The fact is it just that and a whole lot more.

Dropbox is growing up and moving into the most demanding space in the IT solutions universe – managed services.

The latest Dropbox MSP partner is TechSquad IT, which now carries Dropbox for Business and sells it to SMBs.

Dropbox for Business is no slouch, and today counts more than two million businesses as customers.

While the consumer version of Dropbox is aimed at file sharing, the business release has an added focus on backup.

As part of its MSP push, Dropbox has its Dropbox Partner Network, a reseller program that addresses those two million businesses that use the tool, and assuredly more as partners bring on new clients.

The program boasts a Dropbox Reseller Portal that offers sales and marketing resources as well as training. “We are very excited to be able to offer Dropbox for Business to our SMB end user clients, so that they can further streamline their business processes by implementing a file sharing and collaboration tool that is cutting-edge and unique from that of its competitors,” said Chris Wiser, founder and CEO of TechSquad IT. “Also, as a member of the Dropbox Partner Network, I now have access to additional tools, resources and staffing, all while not affecting my revenues and/or bottom line, so that I can instead focus on helping my SMB customers on how to increase their own revenues and bottom line.”

While Dropbox counts two million businesses as customers, it also has some 175 million end users. And for a potential MSP partner, this means a readily recognized brand to promote.

Current MSP partners are already leveraging that brand and technology. “Dropbox makes our life easier as a managed service provider because it just works. Dropbox is a tool that our customers already know how to use,” said Rajan Kapoor, CTO of Cartwheel.

Name recognition isn’t a problem for partner Contango. “Everyone knows and trusts Dropbox so they’re the perfect ?t to partner with Contango IT. Not only is Dropbox a great solution for ?at ?le storage and backup, but also it’s a great disaster recovery solution,” said Danny MizrahiCEO of Contango IT.
