Industrial Contractor Turner Industries Chooses CyrusOne for Disaster Recovery and Colocation

By Laura Stotler

For Turner Industries, finding a provider of disaster recovery colocation services was a major decision. The company, a heavy industrial contractor specializing in the U.S. petrochemical industry, works throughout the country and needs secure and reliable access to all its major business systems in the event of an emergency.

The contractor decided to find a service provider to ensure the safety and security of its mission-critical data and systems. Turner chose global colocations solutions provider CyrusOne for the task.

"Turner Industries is responsible for managing and staffing industrial projects at petrochemical and refining complexes across the country," said Scott Gautreau, manager of technology for Turner Industries. "In the event of a disaster, it's imperative that we maintain access to our business-critical systems, which include enterprise resource planning and payroll. CyrusOne's data center presence in Dallas provides a geographically diverse location to house our backup and disaster recovery systems. In addition, the high availability and redundancy built into their infrastructure and a close attention to detail and customer service were exactly what we were looking for in a data center partner."

Turner is one of the largest industrial construction and maintenance companies in the country, with an extensive IT network of data and applications. The company provides heavy industrial construction services, maintenance, pipes and module and vessel fabrication. Other areas of expertise include rigging and heavy hauling, and providing equipment and associated specialty services.

"We're very pleased to welcome Turner Industries as a CyrusOne customer," said Tesh Durvasula, chief commercial officer at CyrusOne. "Our top-tier facilities deliver high levels of redundancy, efficiency and reliability required by the most demanding enterprise applications. By providing the disaster recovery location for a customer's systems, we are helping businesses maintain focus on day-to-day operations and revenue generation since they no longer need to worry if their data is housed in a safe and secure environment."

CyrusOne has nine data centers located throughout the U.S. as well as additional facilities in the U.K. and Singapore. The service provider offers the flexibility to buy only the space and power needed with the option to scale up in the future. Facilities are also carrier and network neutral so customers may choose their own hardware, services and cloud providers.

The solutions provider also offers transparency for service delivery, management, communications and billing along with SLA compliance featuring 100 percent uptime. Data centers are built with 2N redundancy along with a distributed redundant electrical design.

Disaster recovery features include 24/7/365 security within military-grade facilities, and customized, turnkey configurations. Individual offices are also secured to enable access to customers' own networks and systems, and the provider also offers conference and break rooms, phones and other office amenities.
