MSP Sybaweb Undergoes Expansion Using Kaseya SaaS Solution

By Laura Stotler

South African managed service provider (MSP) Sybaweb has undergone a countrywide and continental expansion plan using Kaseya tools, the company announced. The initiative is in response to a growing demand for outsourced managed services, according to Sybaweb.

The MSP is using Kaseya's IT systems management SaaS solution, in addition to an on-premises solution, to help with its growth plans. This has enabled Sybaweb to increase the number of workstations managed per technician by 20 to 30 percent.

Sybaweb has also increased its support staff to accommodate the expansion. Kaseya's tools have enabled the MSP to offer a broader range of value-added services, and have also increased operational efficiencies. According to Andreas Nel, CEO of Sybaweb, deployment of the Kaseya v6.3 solution is simple and may be managed remotely, without requiring a technician on site. This has reduced travel costs for the company and also ensures its customers are up and running after upgrades within a shorter timeframe.

“These increased efficiencies reduce our clients' operating expenses, while capital expenditure is also reduced as there is no longer a need to purchase disparate solutions, like anti-virus, as this is built in to the framework of Kaseya v6.3,” said Nel. “We needed a solution that would enable us to scale our business expertise effectively, while also leveraging the power of the cloud to reach a broader market. We also required a Microsoft Windows-centric solution, as that is the platform the majority of our clients work off. The Kaseya suite of tools met all of our requirements. We are now servicing multinational clients that have operations in several African countries, as well as companies in other centers in South Africa, like Port Elizabeth and East London.”

There are a number of benefits to using Kaseya, according to Sybaweb. These include its automation capabilities, which enable technicians to schedule mundane but time-consuming tasks. This frees them up to focus on issue resolution and proactive system maintenance. The solution's reporting functionality is also a major feature, enabling the MSP to report back to clients on IT spending and which issues have been resolved.

"Our Kaseya-based IT framework can also audit our clients' systems, which enables us to make recommendations, anticipate problems, pre-empt upgrades and predict faults before they happen," Nel said. "We are also able to reduce the number of 'dead' machines on a network, which significantly increases the operational efficiency of our clients' systems and delivers a better return on their existing IT investments.”
