Cloud infrastructure provider iland is now using the VMware Cloud Connector Advanced Edition, the company announced. The solution enables customers to connect their VMware environments to the iland vCloud Powered public cloud and also helps them to scale up and down based on their business requirements.
The latest version of the vCloud Connector offers content synchronization and datacenter extension features, which help iland customers achieve their goals for adapting a hybrid cloud. And the Advanced Edition of the solution speeds transfer of workloads between connected clouds by compressing data and transferring it as small pieces. This way if the transfer is interrupted, it may resume at the point of disruption.
The content synchronization features let users synchronize the content of their local cloud catalogs with that of iland's public cloud, ensuring adherence to corporate IT standards as well as a consistent user experience. When users make changes to multiple templates within their private clouds, this feature ensures those changes are automatically updated in the public cloud. The end result is that users need not duplicate their work in two cloud environments, leading to time and cost savings.
The datacenter extension feature of the advanced solution lets virtual machines in both local and public cloud environments communicate with each other using the same network subset. This leads to faster deployment of workloads since they may be transferred between clouds without reconfiguring network settings at the destination.
