ChinaCache International Holdings Ltd. offers content and application delivery to the growing Chinese market. Now, thanks to a new partnership Kingsoft Cloud Group, an ISP and software developer, ChinaCache has added cloud hosting, online storage and content delivery networks (CDN) to its menu.
“Our industry leading content delivery network and cloud hosting services, integrated with Kingsoft Cloud's storage solutions, can effectively serve enterprises and other customers in a scalable, reliable and cost-effective manner. We believe that our CDN technology is the ideal backbone to support Kingsoft Cloud's customers and will help optimize the end-user experience for their customers,” said Mr. Song Wang, Founder, Chairman and CEO of ChinaCache. “The continued development of our total network solutions business is a key element of our long-term growth strategy as we work to become a value-added service provider for our customers by leveraging the strength of our internally-developed solutions and through partnerships such as this one. Moreover, this partnership is an important step forward in our effort to become an integral part of the cloud ecosystem, and will provide a significant reference point for other potential partners.”
ChinaCache is a carrier-neutral service provider, as its network interconnects with an array of carrier and ISP nets. The company has been in the internet infrastructure market for over 10 years. Kingsoft, meanwhile, is just one year old and is largely focused on cloud storage and file sharing.
The Cloud Over China
The Chinese public cloud market is in its infancy compared to the U.S. and other Western countries, at least according to IDC.
“Cloud has come into trial and implementation phase from the initial recognition phase in China. Some metropolitan cities in PRC are trying to build up cloud datacenters and enrich various service types on the cloud platform to improve their own investment environment from the government side. Under such circumstances, public cloud was triggered and is entering into another era with more rapid growth,” a recent report from IDC said. “Government is expected to adopt more aggressive measures to introduce more enterprises to leverage the infrastructure. In addition to public cloud, private cloud is expanding among enterprises. Virtualization, as one of the most important technologies, in private cloud is continuously adopted.”
China itself admits the market today is tiny, but expects some serious growing up. Last year the public cloud service market hit $561.6 million, which was up a whopping 73 percent from 2011.
