Managed Service Provider Week in Review

Managed Service Provider Week in Review

By Laura Stotler

This week's managed service provider (MSP) news was dominated by a number of customer wins and contract announcements. What is interesting is the broad range of industries included in these deals, which points to the ever-expanding reach of today's service providers.

Managed hosting and colocation provider Latisys announced they would be serving up their IaaS tool to Fishbowl, which specializes in offering performance-based marketing tools to the restaurant industry. With more than 45,000 locations and 110 million restaurant guests in its database, Fishbowl was looking for a flexible managed hosting and colocation solution. The company is using a hybrid solution from Latisys to strengthen its own applications and services.

On the electrical and energy/industrial automation front, Datalliance has become the vendor managed inventory (VMI) platform and service provider for Belden, inc. The MSP's solution makes up the foundation of Belden's VMI program, used in its design, manufacturing and marketing connectivity solutions offerings. Belden's customers include the energy, data center, healthcare, broadcasting and industrial automation markets.

In the non-profit world, MSP Baynetwork, Inc. teamed up with Hands On Tech Silicon Valley to help non-profit organizations through technical support. The companies worked together in support of the Hands On Tech program, which helps non-profits use technology to directly further their missions.

And in the international telecom market, next-generation networking solutions provider ADTRAN helped Indonesian telecom Lintasarta roll out its fiber-to-the-premises (FTTP) service. The carrier used the Total Access 5000 broadband platform from ADTRAN as the backbone for the service. The deployment enables Lintasarta to deliver faster broadband speeds for business services requiring performance and availability SLAs.
