CloudVelocity Debuts Hybrid Software to Accelerate Cloud Adoption

By Erin Harrison

On the heels of closing $13 million in series B financing led by Third Point Ventures, startup CloudVelocity rolled out its One Hybrid Cloud onboarding solution, which essentially automates the application provisioning process by replicating core system files, tweaking for Amazon EC2’s resource parameters, and creating a new application on Amazon’s infrastructure (One Hybrid Cloud only works with Amazon EC2 currently) via an encrypted channel.

The company’s One Hybrid Cloud software is designed to enable the seamless deployment and operation of multi-tier application clusters and related services into and between public clouds, according to Rajeev Chawla, CEO of CloudVelocity.

“Until today, cloud migration and cloud-enabled disaster recovery have not been viable for the vast majority of enterprise data center apps,” Chawla said in a statement. “With [the] launch of One Hybrid Cloud, we are significantly reducing the amount of manual processes, risks and expenses otherwise required to deploy robust enterprise data center apps into the cloud.”

With One Hybrid Cloud software, the cloud pre-production and production environments are virtually identical, which minimizes errors and reduces development cycles as software is updated and easily pushed live.

One Hybrid Cloud automates five sets of critical processes and extends authentication and other network services into the cloud, making the cloud a seamless extension of the data center, Chawla added.

“Our goal is to accelerate the migration of enterprise apps into the cloud and to drive higher levels of agility, protection and scale for apps trapped in the data center today,” he said.

More than 100 enterprise trials have been conducted since the company emerged from stealth in December 2012, including Fortune 100 cloud initiatives. CloudVelocity plans to announce integration with other cloud providers in 2013.

The Santa Clara, Calif.-based company recently closed $13 million in Series B funding, bringing the total raised to $18 million. This oversubscribed round was led by Third Point Ventures. Pelion Venture Partners and previous investor Mayfield Fund also participated in the new funding.
