Microsoft Cloud Hoster Open for Credit Card Business

Microsoft Cloud Hoster Open for Credit Card Business

If you are doing e-commerce in the cloud, Payment Card Industry Data Security Standard Version 2.0 (PCI-DSS) is something you must contend with if you want to process transactions safely – or process them at all.

ORCS Web Inc. understands this and just renewed its PCI-DSS 2.0 credentials.

So why does ORCS care so much? Because the Web hoster not only specializes in supporting Windows, it goes after Web merchants as well.

Merchants of decent size look for PCI-DSS compatible hosters for the e-commerce sites, and this compliance is often required for certain companies including the credit card companies themselves.

According to VISA, “The Payment Card Industry Data Security Standard (PCI DSS) is a comprehensive set of international security requirements for protecting cardholder data. The PCI DSS was developed by Visa and the founding payment brands of the PCI Security Standards Council to help facilitate the broad adoption of consistent data security measures on a global basis.”

It isn’t just being PCI-DSS compliant that’s important. It is also helping clients deal with it, which ORCS does in part through Complete Care Managed Services (CCMS).

“Understanding the steps in achieving PCI standards can be daunting, especially when factoring in the varying requirements from different card services, like Visa and MasterCard,” said Jeff Graves, Director of Technology at ORCS Web. “We’ve eliminated the confusion by committing every resource to our clients in order to guarantee a PCI compliant environment that meets every industry standard. The result is that we manage the infrastructure from top to bottom so our clients can focus entirely on their customers.”

This PCI compliance is no cup of tea, at least as the PCI Security Standards Counsel explains it. To them this “means that your business adheres to the PCI DSS requirements for security management, policies, procedures, network architecture, software design and other critical protective measures. In operational terms, it means that you are playing your role to make sure your customers' payment card data is being kept safe throughout every transaction, and that they – and you – can have confidence that they're protected against the pain and cost of data breaches.”
