Zetta.net Rolls out DataProtect 4.0 Cloud Backup, Disaster Recovery Solution

Zetta.net Rolls out DataProtect 4.0 Cloud Backup, Disaster Recovery Solution

By Laura Stotler

Zetta.net has announced a new cloud backup and disaster recovery solution geared toward managed service providers (MSPs) as well as remote/branch offices and small and medium enterprises (SMEs). The DataProtect 4.0 solution is now generally available and offers 3-in-1 enterprise-grade data protection.

The new solution protects local software and offers cloud backup, archiving and disaster recovery functionality. Because it is native to the cloud, DataProtect is geared toward the Internet with built-in WAN traffic optimization and includes 10 patent-pending cloud performance acceleration technologies. This produces blazing speeds that are often faster than local backup.

The offering, when paired with enterprise-grade data centers and security levels, provides an appliance-free solution that can help organizations cost effectively migrate to the cloud and replace older, complex backup systems. Features include local backup functionality for all data sets, enabling users to recover larger or more critical data quickly. A redesigned user interface includes automated configuration wizards that help simplify server backups through built-in server type-specific backup configuration checklists. DataProtect also includes an enhanced Exchange Server Backup Plug-in to support a range of complex Exchange server configurations.

The company also announced it had received $8 million in Series B funding, led by Industry Ventures. Funds will be used to continue investment in research and product development in the cloud-native backup and disaster recovery space. Money will also be used to build the company's MSP and channel program as well as expand sales and marketing efforts.

"The adoption of cloud backup has typically been held back by such barriers as ineffective web performance or security concerns," said Ken Wallace, managing director of Industry Ventures. "Zetta.net virtually eliminates these barriers with an elegant solution that offers enterprise-grade performance, security and reliability, marking a true coming-of-age for cloud backup. Zetta.net and its native cloud approach is well ahead of the curve, with its roots in the optimization of Internet-based communications and speed of data transfer."

"The significant customer growth we have achieved, combined with our Series B funding, is a testament to the value Zetta.net is bringing to market as well as the positive direction that cloud backup is headed," said Ali Jenab, CEO of Zetta.net. "We're very pleased to partner with Industry Ventures, along with our existing partners Foundation Capital and Sigma, as we bolster our research and development, channel, marketing and sales initiatives to scale Zetta.net up to the next stage of growth. We're committed to continued innovation as we build on our enterprise-grade backup and disaster recovery solution for SMEs, remote and branch offices and MSPs."
