Sonata Software Snaps up SAP Cert

By Doug Barney

India-based service provider Sonata Software is not new to the SAP space. In fact, it offers two SAP services, application management and maintenance, and enterprise services.

On the application management side, Sonata can boast a new designation. It is now “SAP Certified in Application Management Services.”

The certification really just emphasizes Sonata’s existing skills in assisting SAP customers, an SAP seal of approval if you will. SAP was also already an SAP Gold certified partner.

Sonata, with some 2,300 employees, has a large Indian and Asian-Pacific footprint, but also reaches out to Europe, the US, and the Middle East. The company focuses largely on enterprise IT, logistics, product engineering, and transportation and travel markets. In fact, Sonata has centers of excellence for manufacturing, travel, consumer packaged goods and retail. It also has a center of excellence specifically for SAP.

The Sonata application services are designed to make SAP cheaper to own and operate, and higher performing through Sonata’s service model which offers multiple forms of delivery.

SAP Application Maintenance Approach

“The certification complements Sonata's deep industry and technical expertise in implementing and supporting SAP applications,” said P.V.S.N. Raju, senior vice president, Sonata Software. “Sonata's capabilities offers businesses an SLA-based support with multiple delivery models to meet business requirements, and consolidates proven methodologies and best practices to enable continuous quality improvement of services at optimum costs,” he added.

Before a provider gains this certification, SAP puts them through an audit that looks at application support and how application management services are delivered.

This all means Sonata can offer higher levels of SAP support. “As an SAP AMS certified partner Sonata can now support its clients on L1, L2 and L3 Tickets, by providing functional / technical support, offer incident/problem/change request management services, Database and SAP application and user management services,” Sonata explained.

Sonata also supports Oracle and Microsoft ERP solutions, and recently announced a new deal with Sage Software to move the Sage ERP solution onto Microsoft Windows Azure cloud platform.
