Aryaka's MSP Program Celebrates 1st Birthday, Unwraps New Telco Customer

Aryaka's MSP Program Celebrates 1st Birthday, Unwraps New Telco Customer

By Doug Barney

I got to know Aryaka by meeting several execs at the recent Interop show in Las Vegas.

Some partners know the WAN Optimization as a Service player better through its year-old Fusion Partner Program. Besides WAN services, the company also provides application as a service and network as service.

Fusion is one many Aryaka partner programs, and is aimed at good-size established providers. “Our Fusion Partner Program enables global and regional service providers to utilize their brand and their own infrastructure assets in conjunction with our patented technology,” the company explained.

One provider that fits this bill is the newly-signed ONSE Telecom which runs out of Seoul, South Korea.

The Fusion connection should allow ONSE to expand its footprint globally. “Aryaka's dedicated, optimized global network enables service providers like ONSE Telecom to move beyond the constraints of geography and become global players by delivering accelerated, predictable performance for on-premise as well as public cloud-based services and SaaS applications to the company's customer base,” Aryaka explained.

ONSE can offer all three Aryaka services, application, network and WAN.

“Our customers, both South Korean and international corporations, are looking for a solution that will help them connect to other offices around the world,” said ShinYoung Kim, CEO of ONSE Telecom. “Our partnerships with various on-premise WAN optimization vendors yielded mixed results, and we needed to provide our customers with a better solution. Through our due diligence, we established that a partnership with Aryaka is essential to meeting the current and future demands of our global customers and are excited to offer the most modern and advanced WAN optimization and application acceleration technology delivered as a service and available today.

The Magic of Aryaka

Aryaka was put by Gartner into its WAN Optimization Magic Quadrant. Here’s what Gartner found to like:  “The Aryaka offering is not a traditional managed device service; it provides WAN optimization embedded within Aryaka's network. By deploying WAN optimization within a network overlay model, the Aryaka WAN Optimization as-a-Service solution often eliminates the need for on-premises appliances and can optimize both corporate network traffic and externally hosted applications within software as a service (SaaS) and infrastructure as a service (IaaS) deployments,” Gartner reported.

What else was magic? “Aryaka offers a simplified deployment model that includes a highly redundant and business-class network overlay with integrated WAN optimization services that largely eliminates the need for on-premises hardware and eliminates upfront capital expense for WAN optimization appliances. For locations where local loop bandwidth is limited, Aryaka provides a simple on-premises caching appliance,” Gartner said, adding that shops can also save money going the services route.

Gartner sees two shortcomings. “Aryaka's footprint is missing some locations (specific POPs close to major SaaS and IaaS data centers) to ensure overall global performance to some regions and cloud providers. Be sure to test applications to ensure adequate performance,” the research house argued.

Meanwhile, the service has a few holes. “While Aryaka has strong network-based optimizations, as well as some application-specific optimizations, the solution does not cover all application environments or features of the leading appliance-based solutions. Specific gaps are around virtual desktop infrastructure (VDI), storage replication and Server Message Block 3 (SMB3)/Network File System (NFS) acceleration,” Gartner said.
