New MSP Duo Targets Senior Living and Care Market

New MSP Duo Targets Senior Living and Care Market

By Doug Barney

Prelude Services already delivers IT services to the senior living market, and has for some 15 years, but these services are now seriously bolstered by a new deal with colo provider CyrusOne.

Healthcare and senior services have changed a lot in recent, particularly the federal mandate that all records be electronic. That, along with regulations such as HIPAA, up the ante for healthcare concerns about privacy and record keeping.

All this is far too complex for any but the very largest of shops to go it alone. Here’s where service providers such as Prelude can step in.

While Prelude provides the specific services, as it always has, CyrunOne comes with the data center infrastructure underpinnings.

“We chose CyrusOne and its Hamilton, Ohio, location due to the redundancy built into their facility for power, cooling and connectivity, as well as their proven track record of availability and uptime. With our selection of the CyrusOne facilities, we will be better able to give our clients uninterrupted access to their critical business applications and the data needed to provide the quality care they give to their clients. We know CyrusOne will help us stay on the cutting edge of technology and systems management, which will immensely benefit our healthcare clients,” said Joe Traynor, director of sales and marketing at Prelude Services.

Hip to HIPAA

HIPPA is a particularly big deal, as it requires medical records to be both private and accessible. While MSPs can do this, not all do it equally well, says MSP consultancy Ulistic.

Ulistic says customers should press MSPs on this issue, and MSPs should ask themselves the same tough questions. “Is your managed services business adhering to the standards for HIPAA compliance?” Ulistic asks, and answers, “If not, you need to be.”

Healthcare also requires business continuity. Medical devices need to be kept running, but so do the systems that provide patient data. Computer crashes and natural disasters can take both out.

MSPs that use the cloud can help insure that data isn’t lost in either of these terrible events.

CyrusOne apparently fills the bill with SLAs promising 100-percent uptime.
