InterCloud Systems Launches Cloud Services Platform

InterCloud Systems Launches Cloud Services Platform

By Erin Harrison

On the heels of announcing the company’s financial results for the first quarter of 2013, managed service provider (MSP) InterCloud Systems has launched its InterCloudVm cloud services platform, an enterprise-grade platform designed to offer medium and large customers customizable infrastructure and applications.

The platform allows InterCloud customers and their users to securely access their applications via a private, hybrid or public cloud and is highly elastic, rapidly scalable and offers ease of use to IT administrators, according to InterCloud CEO Mark E. Munro.

“We believe that there are significant growth opportunities in integrated cloud-based solutions that allow organizations to integrate their applications and services into a cost effective and elastic cloud environment,” Munro said in a company statement. “Our cloud services, offering an op-ex model versus a cap-ex model, meet the needs of enterprise and service providers that are looking to reduce capital expenditures as they continue to outsource services. We expect to sell these services direct through our sales organization as well as through our channel partners in a white label partnership.”

The platform, which offers three modules – Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS), Platform as a Service (PaaS) and Software as a Service (SaaS) – supports a range of operating systems under an single umbrella, capable of running mail, Web servers, database servers, mobile platform development, multimedia, voice communication servers and enterprise applications such as ERP, CRM, SCM, HRM, among others.

The Boca Raton, Fla.-based company offers professional services to the telecommunications industry, which includes network systems design, architectural and engineering services, program management and technical services.

InterCloud’s revenue for the first quarter, which ended March 31, 2013, increased by $10.9 million, or 716 percent, to $12.4 million, compared to $1.5 million for the first quarter of 2012.  Company officials attribute the increase in revenue to the three companies InterCloud acquired in 2012.

In April, InterCloud Systems announced a definitive agreement to acquire AW Solutions, Inc. for $5.2 million. The agreement to purchase AW Solutions is subject to a number of adjustments, like cash, promissory notes and InterCloud common stock. The firm offers a variety of single-source solutions that will complement InterCloud’s portfolio of managed and cloud services. These include design, construction, implementation, operation and maintenance of wireline, wireless, fiber optic and DAS multi-site networks.
