BrightGauge Polishes MSP Analytics

BrightGauge Polishes MSP Analytics

By Doug Barney

Many companies sell software for MSPs to resell as services. BrightGauge Software is a bit different. It has a tool that MSPs themselves use to automate their own businesses.

Now that software has been refreshed in the form of BrightGauge 3.0.

Before we dive into the new specifics, let’s talk about what BrightGauge does.

BrightGauge was begun with the idea of building software to make MSPs lives easier. The solution is to help MSPs manage the data that drives the MSP business.

It does so by pulling in needed data from an array of monitoring tools, including GFI MAX, AutoTask, Connectwise, Kaseya and LabTech. BrightGauge then applies Key Performance Indicators (KPI) and other metrics that reveal how the MSP operation is doing, how well you are doing closing trouble tickets for instance.

Plus, by poring over reports, MSPs can see server uptime, the status of patches and overall system state.

The new BrightGauge 3.0 “provides enhanced customization of data metrics and more robust reporting features that now enable MSPs to measure and visualize their own business performance across their entire client base,” the company said.

The software lets MSPs create intelligence reports about client business, and “now provides MSPs with the added ability to aggregate data across their entire customer base and generate internal reports that illustrate their own business performance, including sales, profitability, engineer utilization, open and closed tickets, average time to ticket resolution, workstation disk utilization and so much more.”

All the new features are explicitly made for improving the business of providing managed services.

“BrightGauge 3.0 is a major architectural and platform enhancement that now allows MSPs to measure and analyze their own operational performance with the same ease of use and intuitiveness we’ve always offered,” said Brian Dosal, president and product manager of BrightGauge Software.  “We’re especially excited to offer advanced customization functionality within our Gauge Builder, which allows even the most non-technical users to slice and dice their own data.  With these improvements, MSPs can now spend less time accessing and visualizing metrics they need to make informed business decisions that ultimately improve efficiencies and their bottom lines.”

One customer posted of his BrightGauge experience and found that “not only is BrightGauge a powerful tool to help keep our current client base aware of open issues and the general health of their network, but it is an invaluable sales tool as well,” the MSP said. “The BrightGauge system allows us to show prospective clients the professional level at which we maintain and care about their network. BrightGauge also provides file access through their client portal, which we plan to provide additional documentation and reporting that we generate from other various systems. Being able to automate Open Ticket Emails to clients saves me a ton of time each week, as this was previously a manual procedure for myself and my engineers.”

Last month, MSP Today reported that one of BrightGauge’s founders and former boss, Eric Dosal, rejoined as CEO after a brief hiatus. Dosal started the company with his brother Brian three years ago, and together the two now run the operation.
