Cavium, Partners Demonstrate Intelligent Processors and Adapters for Cloud

By Laura Stotler

Cavium, Inc. is teaming up with its partners this week to demonstrate a variety of its silicon and software solutions. The company is a provider of semiconductor products that enable intelligent processing for communications, networking and digital home applications.

The company and its Partnership to Accelerate Customer End-solutions (PACE) program members are demonstrating solutions based on Cavium's OCTEON, OCTEON Fusion, NITROX and NEURON Search processors this week. Cavium also offers Intelligent Network and Security Adapters for the secure virtualized enterprise and cloud.

Cavium processors are ideal for managed service providers (MSPs) and cloud applications, as well as in the data center and enterprise. OCTEON processors are used in routers, switches, unified threat management (UTM) appliances and a variety of wireless products. The OCTEON Fusion processors combine a multi-core architecture with purpose-built Baseband DSP cores, a digital front end and extensive LTE hardware accelerators on a single chip.

The company's NITROX Security Processors offer solutions featuring up to 200K RSA ops per second and 40 Gbps of encryption bandwidth. This enables extremely reliable performance in wired and wireless network security applications as well as SSL-based secure e-Business.

ZTE recently announced that its MF15C wireless display adapter is using the Cavium CNW6611L media SoC for media streaming and mirroring capabilities. The adapter is compatible with the company's Grand Memo smartphone and offers support for high-definition content and optimized interactivity.

The new adapter lets users access a variety of content, including photos, movies and music, and they may also play games on larger screen televisions using the adapter. It leverages Cavium's low latency video processing technology to offer seamless interactivity.

“Here at ZTE, we have a long tradition of bringing innovative products to the market,” said Dr. Shuliang Liu, head of the handset MBB product planning and solution department at ZTE. “What our customers are looking for today is an easy way of sharing the content on their mobile devices with their friends and family on their larger TV screens. Cavium’s complete media sharing reference solution provided us a path to quickly introduce our ultra small wireless media adapter product to the market, while enabling us to add ZTE’s differentiating features for a better and more interactive user experience.”
