Secure-24 Offers New Backup-as-a-Service Solution Built Using EMC Products

By Laura Stotler

Managed service provider (MSP) Secure-24 is now offering a new Backup-as-a-Service (BaaS) solution for enterprises. The company, a provider of cloud computing, application outsourcing and enterprise hosting services, is directing the new offering toward enterprises in need of secure ITIL-based data protection processes.

The BaaS offering uses hardware from EMC in tandem with data security, high availability and compliance from Secure-24. The full solution also uses the EMC Avamar software and system, the EMC NetWorker unified backup software and the EMC Data Domain deduplication storage systems.

Secure-24 aims to provide expert management and support for business critical applications as well as highly available environments. The MSP offers data centers in Michigan, Arizona and Nevada, with each center featuring an EMC backup architecture with more than 1.8 petabytes of protected data deployed.

The company's customers are mid-market and Fortune 10 companies in a variety of market sectors. These include manufacturing, technology, consumer goods, chemicals, financial services, transportation, construction, healthcare and pharmaceuticals.

The MSP has a long-term relationship with EMC and is a Gold EMC Velocity Service Provider. The designation shows that Secure-24 strives to build solutions to accelerate customers' IT environments as well as drive business transformation. Secure-24 also received the 2012 EMC Journey to the Cloud Award for driving innovation, business value and performance through virtualization as well as enabling the migration to cloud computing.

"Many organizations face challenges in justifying the cost to have all critical applications and data backed up properly," said Keith Bankston, storage and backup services manager at Secure-24. "A BaaS solution must integrate into existing infrastructure, and provide a single management interface for all administrators. Enterprise-level backup and restore requires a number of critical procedures. We provide our clients with a solution to reduce the costly risks of information loss without the high upfront investment."
