DecisionOne Exposes All in New Website

DecisionOne Exposes All in New Website

By Doug Barney

The world of managed services can sure be tough to untangle. One company hopes to make understanding and decision making easier with a vastly revamped website.

Vendor sites may sound trivial, but they really aren’t. IT decision makers are charged with handling many product investigations. A vendor’s site is a key portal into whether that company is even worth considering. An ineffective page means IT has to spend more time looking for a service provider, or they’ll cross that provider off their list.

Many small providers have limited website information. DecisionOne Corp. doesn’t have that freedom. The 55-year-old company claims it is the biggest “independent” IT support concern in the North America.

IT vets may or may not know the DecisionOne name. But experienced folks may recognize the previous name of this company that has been in operation in one form or another for more than a half century.

Curious? Here are some previous incarnations. The company has been known as everything from Bell Atlantic Business Systems Services, Decision Data, IDEA Servcom, Sorbus, Intelogic Trace, Memorex Telex, and General Diagnostic Incorporated (GDI).

Today, DecisionOne has managed services that are for the most part geared towards logistics and supply chain management. Its revamped website is partly aimed at emphasizing the company’s latest identity, but also highlights what its services are all about. Part of what’s new is social media, which could help potential customers connect with existing customers and more source material for decision makers, including some new interactive features.

"DecisionOne's new website showcases our deep IT support experience developed

over the past 55 years in the IT services industry," notes  Nick Sharma, president and chairman of the company. "Our existing and prospective clients now have a dynamic new way to learn more about DecisionOne's core competencies, which include multi-vendor expertise, global reach, and customized solutions that scale to meet each client's unique business requirements."

Long Legacy

The company has a solid legacy, and over recent years it has moved from data center support to handling more tools in the midrange computing space. These days, DecisionOne offers hardware services that support high availability of desktops, laptops and the entire data center including networking.
