Security company Star2Star Communications has added a new suite of managed security products to their offerings. The company has introduced its Star2Star Security Suite, featuring managed firewall, gateway antivirus, VPN and firewall scanning services.
The new security features work in conjunction with Star2Star's StarBox IP communications appliance, which will be available later this year. Star2Star strives to unify communications with a variety of products, including voice, fax, videoconferencing and instant messaging that are provided through a single, easy-to-use system.
Features of the new managed security suite include VPN, in both office-to-office and office-to-remote client configurations. It also includes network gateway antivirus for scanning incoming data for malware, regardless of the source and destination. Managed firewall services give users remotely managed firewall protection, while firewall scanning provides continual monitoring watches for unusual or suspicious data traffic.
The new suite is available on a subscription basis to all customers. Star2Star sells its products through a large international network of distributors, master agents and certified installing dealers. The company has tens of thousands of communication system installations across North America, many of which are in retail and restaurant chains.

The company has also announced its new StarVideo video conferencing tool for users of its StarSystem communications solution. The new tool offers on-demand video conferencing for up to 12 users, and operates over the company's Star2Star Constellation voice infrastructure. It provides voice infrastructure and clear, crisp audio for participants, even those without access to a video camera or computer system. Those users may simply use any phone to dial into the audio portion of the conference.
