GreenBytes Announces the Launch of Virtual Storage Appliance for Desktop Virtualization Market

By Shankar Pandiath

A leading developer of comprehensive virtual desktop solutions, GreenBytes, recently announced the launch of vIO, an advanced virtual storage appliance version of its desktop virtualization solution.

The new vIO version provides additional flexibility in virtual desktop implementation, leveraging the existing infrastructure resources, helping service providers and enterprises to scale their respective virtual desktop environment cost effectively and in a manner that the business requires.

With GreenByte’s technology in Zero Latency Inline Deduplication, the IT department can deliver persistent, full-featured virtual desktop environment at cloud scale, enabling the end users to have a superb experience with virtual desktops, similar to the experience with physical desktops that they are most used to, and all with 97 percent lesser storage space.

The vIO virtual storage appliance developed by GreenBytes was particularly designed as an advanced desktop virtualization solution, delivering comprehensively featured importunate virtual desktops that end users demand, with affordability, scalability, and manageability that makes it happen efficiently. The version enables the Information Technology administrators to improve the performance, and thus, enhance end user experience of the existing or a new virtual desktop infrastructure. This is achieved by integrating the company’s proprietary Zero Latency Inline Deduplication technology and a local SSD, PCIe-based flash card or a flash-based storage controller, with advanced VMware ESXi host.

The issues pertaining to congestion and inconsistent performance can be seamlessly resolved by switching the virtual desktop datashares to vIO. The virtual storage appliance is ready and has been deployed to provide storage externally and locally via NFS or iSCSI in less than just five minutes. The IT administrators can easily deliver non-persistent and persistent desktop images via their most preferred desktop broker interface improving performance, avoiding end user interruption, and lowering costs while at the same time, protecting the current infrastructure and storage investments.

The new vIO virtual storage appliance is completely cloud scalable, and can seamlessly size to virtually any desktop virtualization environment by implementing multiple instances of vIO. At the same time, it is purpose built, reducing the quantum of flash needed to support the process of desktop virtualization by as low as 97 percent, leveraging the Zero Latency Inline Deduplication software. It is 100 percent cloud ready; with plug-and-play features that initiate the desktop virtualization process is just five minutes. The vIO version is strategically designed to be an ecosystem agnostic, ensuring that no matter whatever is the infrastructure, the existing investments are always protected.

GreenByte’s IO Offload Engine and vIO essentially combines the key features of desktop virtualization into an easy to deploy, single, and scale solution. With these desktop virtualization solutions, the end users can continue to leverage the existing working practices, storage, years of experience and knowledge, and management tools.

GreenBytes is the leading provider of advanced and proprietary IO Offload desktop Virtualization solutions, with the aim to maximize the capacity and performance of the existing infrastructure resources to provide full-featured, persistent virtual desktops with affordability, scalability, and manageability.
