XIUS, Connectem Team Up to Offer Evolved Packet Core to Carriers

By David Delony

XIUS, a company specializing in transaction processing over mobile networks, has announced that it is teaming up with Connectem, a company specializing in virtualization, to propose the Virtualized LTE Evolved Packet Core (EPC) for deployment over mobile carriers.

“The market for Mobile Broadband infrastructure is on the precipice of a massive change. Market dynamics are causing carriers to investigate network infrastructures that are more elastic, flexible and economically viable. Our joint offering with Connectem enables us to deploy on-demand infrastructure and capacity in a fraction of the time at a fraction of the cost, of existing architectures,” said GV Kumar, CEO at Xius.

“Connectem is thrilled to be engaging with XIUS as a premier network solutions delivery company. Their vision is aligned with our view of the world, and we will work tirelessly to deliver our joint customers the best experience possible,” said Barry Hill, Connectem’s VP Sales & Marketing. “We are excited about the potential to re-define the economics and innovation in the Mobile Broadband market with this solution.”

The EPC will allow carriers to build 4G networks with 3G failover. The two companies will offer mobile carriers a solution that will allow them to build 4G and LTE networks that are reliable and cost-efficient.

XIUS’s Mobile Services Platform (MSP) gives carriers the ability to offer voice and data communications over multiple network generations. Its features include online charging, BSS (Business Support System)/OSS (Operations Support System) and VAS (Value Added Services).

MSPs can be pressed into various roles, including M2M and MVNE/MVNO applications, as well as wholesale traffic aggregation and management and 4G LTE networks.

“MSP V4.0 represents XIUS’s ongoing commitment to investing in the greater quality, efficiency, effectiveness, increased ease of integration, as well as new feature / functionality of MSP to enable our customers to meet and exceed subscriber expectations,” Kumar said in January.

Connectem has developed the industry’s first mobile infrastructure virtualization software designed to run in the cloud.
