nCircle Receives its Second PureCloud Patent

By Kasey Schefflin-Emrich

Information risk and security performance management solutions provider nCircle was recently awarded its second patent for its PureCloud security services platform by the United States Patent and Trademark Office.

PureCloud is a cloud-based platform that provides an inexpensive, easily accessible and wide array of security services such as vulnerability scanning, PCI scanning and Web application scanning. The platform enables customers, especially small and medium businesses, to scan computers for vulnerabilities, software bugs and misconfigurations typically used in cyber attacks without having to install or manage any hardware or software.

“Attackers are targeting smaller businesses that typically have fewer security resources than larger companies," Tim Keanini, chief research officer for nCircle, said in a statement. “The breakthrough technology in nCircle PureCloud helps level the playing field by making enterprise class security tools accessible to all businesses, regardless of size.”

The PureCloud partner program has attracted more than 100 partners since its launch last year. Part of the reason behind the program's success is because of its flexibility, allowing partners to tailor the offered vulnerability management solutions to fit their specific business and customer needs.

nCircle now has a total of 11 patents, as well as customers in numerous fields including financial services, government, healthcare, energy and technology. Some of the more well-known ones are the U.S. Department of Agriculture, United Healthcare and News Corporation.

Reflecting its continuing commitment to security issues, nCircle recently launched a new PureCloud Risk Center widget for IT management provider Spiceworks. The widget will provide Spicework users with thorough information about their latest PureCloud vulnerability scan and keep them up-to-date on breaking security news. Additionally, nCircle will provide vulnerability coverage for even the largest and most sensitive networks with its Device Profiler 4000. The appliance, available within nCircle Suite360, supports advanced vulnerability issues such as Web application and SCAP configuration scanning.
