Vision Solutions Introduces New Cloud Protection & Recovery Solution for Cloud Providers

By Laura Stotler

A new Cloud Protection & Recovery (CP&R) solution has been announced by Vision Solutions, Inc. The company is a provider of replication, availability and disaster recovery software and services and the new offering moves Vision Solutions into the areas of high availability and migration/cross-platform data sharing solutions.

The CP&R solution is based on Vision Solutions' Double-Take and MIMIX products, and is designed to enable managed service providers (MSPs) and cloud service providers to accelerate their cloud businesses. They may do this by offering customers Recovery-as-a-Service (RaaS) and can also take advantage of pay-per-use pricing.

Businesses of all sizesmay utilize the cloud offering to protect their data, applications and services efficiently and at a low cost. The new solution has also helped Vision Solutions to realign its entire product portfolio. The provider now offers solutions in three categories: Cloud Protection & Recovery, High Availability and Disaster Recovery and Migration and Cross-Platform Data Sharing.

The CP&R offering has a number of features, including a RaaS platform with support for Apache CloudStack, which enables cloud providers using Citrix CloudPlatform or Apache CloudStack to provide cloud-integrated RaaS to end customers. The solution is also built on Double-Take's real-time replication technology along with MIMIX Metered Usage, which lets providers gain licenses in a pay-as-you-go model.

Other features include reduction of business risks for MSPs and cloud providers as well as aid in creating affordable, cloud-based DR, HA and migration solutions for end users. It also features a software development kit that lets providers use APIs for custom integration of Double-Take into their cloud ecosystems. This enables better automation as well as reduced administrative costs.

"Companies of all sizes, from SMB to enterprise, are considering cloud-based recovery as a non-disruptive path to cloud adoption and it follows the scalable, comprehensive disaster recovery and availability solution that every cloud option requires," said Alan Arnold, chief technology officer, Vision Solutions. "We are excited to introduce our Cloud Protection & Recovery offering with a goal of enabling cloud providers a new path to revenue and their customers the industry's most reliable data protection solution."

"As the market for solid cloud offerings continues to expand, we're thrilled to be able to fulfill the need for a scalable and feature-rich RaaS solution to our customers with Vision Solutions' CP&R," said Jay Bharvada, managing director at perTECHtual, a provider of disaster recovery and business continuity planning. "The security, reliability, and resilience provided by the cloud is something both small and enterprise businesses cannot afford to ignore. At perTECHtual, we are all about providing true resilience, in every aspect of our clients' business. For our customers, this is a great and affordable opportunity to gain access to the best disaster recovery solutions and private secure enterprise clouds."
